David Dechant (b. 1962, La Jolla, California) received his BA from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA with a dual major in Fine Arts and Cinematic Arts. His MFA was also from the University of Southern California, School of Cinematic Arts. Dechant has maintained an active art practice for 40 years. He is a versatile artist who integrates many methodologies into his work: metal fabrication (machining, milling), woodworking (joinery, carving, turning), and industrial paint/finish techniques. Dechant’s primary interest is in the symbolism of myth and the idea of separate but connected identities.
